CCNA: Cisco Certified Network Associate Study Guide: Exam 640-802 Review

CCNA: Cisco Certified Network Associate Study Guide: Exam 640-802

I own too many CCNA books. I only wish I had started with this one. As a recertification candidate I was floored by the amount of new material covered by the current CCNA exams. Todd Lammle has such a great way of presenting the material as it relates to the Cisco CCNA exam objectives, but also with respect to what we CCNA's do every day. Read this book, listen to Mr. Lammle's guidance, work the labs with real equipment or a great simulator like RouterSim's Network Visualizer, and pass the exam! This book is the best, and in my opinion the only, CCNA book you need.

Introduction to Information Systems: Supporting and Transforming Business Review

Introduction to Information Systems: Supporting and Transforming Business

The book was purchased in conjunction with taking a college business course. The book is excellent for this purpose and for those wishing to study the topic but it is not a casual read. It is strong on information and communications technology in business that support the enormous changes in this area over the past few decades. It is not so strong on database and other program usage, etc., and I found recommended supplemental readings (from articles older than the date of publication of the book) helpful in studying this area so it is perhaps better as part of an organized course than for self-study.

A+ Guide to Managing & Maintaining Your PC Review

A+ Guide to Managing and Maintaining Your PC

I purchased this book for my ECT 372 class for my IT major. I already have my A+ certification but my major says i had to take this class. This book is one of the best textbooks ive ever used. Its going on my shelf along with my Grobbs Electronic books. The information in there is fairly recent (thus only a 4 star rating). Theres not much stuff in there about windows 7. The only other complaint I have with this book is the weight. Its the heaviest textbook I have ever used. Its 7 pounds and you can feel the weight. Though it has plenty of pictures and info in it so its worth the weight. Even if your not in college and are interested in computers, get this book, youll be able to fix most problems that arise with computers.

This is one of the better study aids, but as with all study aids it is boring to read. It may just be me, but I hate to read anything like this, but I have to keep my certs. It is up to date with the latest verion of the test and very informative. It will make a great companion to use along side the bigger complete CCNA test prep books and also to use in the field when you need to remember those odd commands.

Multimedia over IP and Wireless Networks: Compression, Networking, and Systems Review

Multimedia over IP and Wireless Networks: Compression, Networking, and Systems
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Schaar and Chou have assembled an up to date collection of papers on current issues in doing multimedia over the Internet and also over a cellphone network. The papers or chapters vary considerably in their subjects. Some, like Chapter 7, takes us back to the basics of Shannon's theorems for the capacities of channels, and for codings that are used in these channels. That particular chapter is a good and concise foray into its subject. While it may not actually give the state of the art, it prepares the reader for the following chapters that are more on the cutting edge of research.
Overall, there is roughly equal coverage of both the Internet and wireless nets. One aspect prominent in both is the Quality of Service. For real time streaming multimedia, this is the critical issue. And it is heavily discussed. With perhaps a slightly greater emphasis in a wireless net.
