This book is pretty unimpressive. Many of the facts are wrong and the author continually assures us that "...all you need to know about this is...". I don't know about you, but I want to learn everything i can get my hands on before I work on something, and nobody tells me what I don't need to worry about.
I'm not sure what the targeted reader is, perhaps an uneducated laborer would learn something about this book. Any electrician who has done any work will not really learn anything from this book. It even says that 20 amp circuits are typically wired with 16 GAUGE WIRE!!! I hope that was a typo! Anybody who is installing 16 gauge on a 20A breaker should not be doing electrical work. Regardless, I think that all of the antenna stuff would be learned by one day on the job as an apprentice. There was no reference to industry standards, codes and best practices.
The only good things that I can say about this book is that the connector pictures help in ID'ing connectors, and the section on dedicated lines between sites made me realize that I need to study them more.
I am glad that I only paid $16 for this book, not the $45 that the publisher wants. In my opinion, techs would be better off buying the NEC or something much more informing than this text.

I was introduced to this book by my colleague. He lent me a copy he had. I was an engineer in audio/acoustics who started to work in the mobile telephony field. I found a wealth of information in the book, and found the book easy to read at the same time. No high-brow, difficult to read writing at all.
I bought my own copy shortly after. I read this book again just prior to my interview with my present employer. It certainly helped me landing my job! This is an excellent book, and I heartlily recommend all who are working in this area.

It appears no one proofread this book - what a shame. There are far too many typos and mismatches between text and exhibits. I stopped reading it because I couldn't trust the accuracy of the text.
Examples (mostly from memory):
baud and band, steam and stream.
exhibits with errors and bad legends.
there is a paragraph that doesn't make any sense.
There is a paragraph that refers to a non-existant exhibit.
There are lots of others as well.

I wasn't reading this to critique it. I wanted to extend my knowledge in the wireless world. I saw lots of errors and finally decided that I couldn't trust any new information since I had to assume that the error rate there would approximate that where I had knowledge.

I concurr with the previous 1-star review - I was expecting serious technical insights on the important (forward-looking) issue of WiFi/WiMAX Fixed-Mobile-Convergence. Instead, even though this text is dated 2005, it portrays 802.20 in the same light as 802.16, even though 802.20 is nearly irrelevant.
I would put this book in the same league as the paperback series from "Sams" and other survey texts costing around $50..........
Fairly useful, but hardly worth $99.00, and certainly not published in a "Professional Engineering" series.
I gave it 2 stars for clear and concise presentation, if you are in technical marketing or sales, this would be an excellent book.

The widespread knowledge and use of GPS, especially in cellphones, has perhaps helped to obscure the fact that there is still a need for ground based methods of location finding. This book is a comprehensive look at those ideas. It points out that they can be used in contexts where GPS is weak or unavailable, especially inside buildings.
We also learn that ground based methods were historically the only means of finding location, until satellites were deployed.
