(More customer reviews)I don't know what the editor was smoking, but it this book is full of poor grammar and spelling. It makes for difficult reading.
The content of this book is out of date, discussing outdated and forgotten technologies like WAP and i-mode. Both of those are either long forgotten or has been put to pasture.
In addition to being out of date the content is broad and superficial. A lot is covered but in unsatisfying ways. One gets the feeling the author can't string together a narrative and focuses unnecessarily on esoteric topics. It is like touring the forest by studying each plant in detail, but only for an hour each.
My pet peeve about this book is the number of unnecessary sentences. For example "In recent years many technical papers and even a whole special issue of a magazine has been devoted to work on this topic." I mean, really, an ENTIRE issue of A magazine? Clearly we have to GET ON THIS.
My advice, get another book. If this is your textbook, then you can find the same material better written on the Internet. And if your lecturer is recommending this book, then pick another course.
